Hi everyone,
I have still not seen this mystery black cat - I'm there, every morning and nothing!! I managed to get hold of the chap who spotted the cat and he said that he has only seen it once since calling me. He is out and about in the area every morning (same times) and will call me if they turn up.
I also responded to a poster for a found black cat in my area - the office staff in the prison had been feeding a cat for months and got so worried about leaving him at the weekend - one of them took it home. My posters have been plastered all over the prison area - but they did not see it. It was only by chance that their poster was spotted - it was removed by them the next day. This cat was a male, the person who took it home is keeping. Let's hope he doesn't have a home as someone maybe missing him.
Another lady contacted me about a cat that was visiting her garden. Again it was not Phoebe. It was a male and it did not look like a stray to me - very good condition and very friendly. He had been visiting her for about a week and she wanted to call the RSPCA. I persuaded her to put a collar on him and to put up some posters - she could then take it from there. She was happy to keep him but was a bit put off by his colour
I do try very hard to give people info and help when I go to look at a kitty, and sometimes it gets frustrating as it feels like it goes in one ear and out the other. I just have the cats interests at heart.
This morning I have spent in the garden and fields looking for her and later I will be out walking around the area.
I really do hope that Phoebe does come home - there is always going to be a place for her in our hearts and our home.

Your determination is an example to all owners of AWOL cats... it's hard work but looking at stories like Jannine and Milo it's all worth it, and you are building up a lot of good karma along the way, helping other cats! Someone was talking about a leaflet distribution service... have you considered trying it out? Just in case Phoebe is with a "foster family", pacing up and down waiting for you ...
GOOD LUCK

It never ceases to amaze me how persistent people who have lost their cat(S) are well done LCN and you R/R there have been some good returns to people who like you are persistent and as you say R/R other cats have found homes or their owners on the journey.
In my experience most cats that are NOT found or go home are re-homed or end up re-homing themselves not much good for someone who loves their cats like you you want them home .......but it is just a little bit of comfort while you are looking.
be lucky.

I forgot to post that it is a year today since Phoebe went AWOL.
The leaflets are a good idea - we receive a monthly magazine who will deliver 1000 for £25 plus vat. I thought this seemed OK and you can select the roads for delivery. Must be pro active and get it done.
Thank you for your kind words. It does mean a lot to me.

When Joplin had been missing for just a month, people we spoke to were so cynical about the likelihood of us finding her - they don't realise that cats will always find a way to look after themselves and it's usually just a matter of time, maybe a long time. Does anyone know of a statistic LCN could use on her leaflet to convince those not in the know that it's still worth keeping an eye out, no matter how long it's been??

In all the time I have been involved with the lost and found, the times I have heard people say that relatives and friends say "its only a cat" which really say it all about how people who don't have or have never had a cat feel todays throw-away society I suppose, some cats take ages to get home others fly straight home like an exocet missile.
the other thing to remember is that cats are naturally nosy and will dawdle to look around especially if someone makes the mistake of feeding them (I don't think this is wrong if a cat is hungry you should feed it although the RSPCA have a different policy another reason I dislike them not feeding a hungry animal is cruelty)....basically if a cat has been gone a long time you can say it has re-homed itself or been re-homed by one of the welfares ...BUT THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE TO STOP LOOKING we are still getting info about Fuzz and follow the info up (its now been over 7 years) and in some cases that I have been involved with and the cat has been found the owners have left it where it is rather than upset the cat again.................one cat has just been found after 9 years ....KEEP LOOKING.
