Another poster saying you have info that your cat is in their area and has been seen this might give them a few qualms and phone you.

might work

roger.

good luck.

Thanks guys. Wasn't sure if I should just leave him where he is; I don't want to upset him if he's settled. That said, I would dearly love to have him back with me. I miss him laying on the end of my bed. Sad ...And the cuddles. ...And the tiny meows. ...And, well, everything!

Thanks RR for those suggestions, I hadn't thought of putting Sues number on the leaflets, but that's a great idea and I'll definately do that. Ditto little facts.

What really hurts is the fact that I leafleted that street (among others) three times, so there's no excuse from whoever has him to say, "Oh, I didn't know he was someones cat" because they've had leaflets AND three or four posters in their cul-de-sac alone!

I keep thinking about what the medium lady said in June: he's been taken in by people who've mistaken him for their missing cat. If this is so then again they could've/should've at least contacted me to make sure he wasn't mine, what with all the posters and leaflets around!

I'm also a little worried because, stupidly, he wasn't microchipped. I'm concerend that whoever's got him has had him chipped and will insist that he's theirs and has always been so. All I've got are photos and his vet papers, but they don't prove anything. Plus, he's got no identifing marks at all, other than those half-dozen white hairs on his chest. If whoever has him puts up a fight I think I'll be on the loosing side. Crying or Very sad

Roger, you posted as I was writing this. I did think of that, but was worried that someone might say, "Who?" lol! Can't rightly say, "A medium and a Dowser... So there!" Ha hah!

So, the consensus is that I should try and get him back then? That's what I wanted to hear! Very Happy

There was a poster right outside the houses where Joplin was begging for food, and it was there for a month... some people just don't pay attention to posters and flyers. Commuters who live in villages especially... and also short sighted old dears who can see cute cats and adopt them but can't read posters or flyers because they've lost their bifocals Wink I think you should definitely keep looking if only for the chance of closure. I think it's a great idea to say he's been seen... if anyone DOES ask "who" you can just say it was someone passing through the area who called from a phone box or something. I don't think anyone would ask, though.

Well, that's the thing isn't it though? I mean, you had that with Joplin and I had that with the woman who thought Hades was in her garden; she'd been driving past that poster a few doors down from her house for a good few months ('cause I kept putting them up with different photos and such) and she never noticed it until that day she called me. Now, I can understand if you're driving, because, let's face it, the last thing you're looking at are lamp posts and telegraph poles! But, when you're walking, you're bound to see them, surely? Meh, I don't know. Rolling Eyes

Good idea about the stranger passing through. Might try that if anyone does ask.

I was thinking of going out today but it's been on and off cats and dogs here. Plus it's my mum's birthday and I hate for her to come down with another cold! Anyway, Hades is safe (I hope!) and warm at the moment so there doesn't seem any great rush to go and find him. Although I am very anxious to get him home!

Oh, get this! Mum's playing Solitaire on her NDS. Bast has just jumped on her lap and is watching with rapt fascination as mum moves the cards around! Laughing ROTFLMAO! SO wish I had my camera to hand!

Cats... are... MAD!

well I'm afraid I would have to do something, lets face it if you found a cat you would try & find its owner & from what has been said these people just get a cat & keep it without any regard that someone is searching for their pet. If you know where they are I would go knocking on the door..... ( sorry but these type of people make me so cross as they think what they are doing is right but they never make any attempt to find the owners)

Oh, I agree with you completely Saffy. I mean, we wouldn't do it, but then we're helpful, nice people. You know what it is don't you? They've found a cat and rug-rat has fallen in love with said cat and, instead of saying, "It's not our cat, we must find his real family." they say, "Aww, alrignt sweetheart, we'll keep him." Don't wanna hurt litte Johnny's feelings see. Never mind the years worth of heartache and stress I've had!

I did read somewhere that cats are classed as property (clearly by someone who's never lived with one!) so I can have a rozz... err, Police Officer go round, but I have to make sure it is Hades before I get the coppers involved. Have to wait in tomorrow for a pest controller to call so think I'll knock up some flyers and go from there. Think I'm going to have to go carefully on this one. I just don't want to get my hopes up so I end up devastated again.

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst... it's only (!) been a year and still worth leaving the porch light on. If you do find him with an adopted family, you could always let them know that Saffy has black kittens needing a home!

I was worried for a second that you'd copied and pasted from when I said "some silly old bat has probably shut him in her house and re-named him Tinkle". I was glad to see you didn't quote that bit. He's got a distinctive (and not un-cute) little face so I'm sure people will be able to recognise him if they have the chance. Keep going, one step at a time, even though it's difficult and we'll all be thinking of Hades!

Lol! Yeah, that'd be good wouldn't it?! Maybe I should actually try that!

Well, needless to say I've had no joy. We leafleted the cul-de-sac on Thursday and have heard nothing. There was some confusion between mum and I about which house was "Black Cat Central". But neither of us could remember. Think I'll go and have a chat with the old boy who said about it, providing I can remember which house he lives in! Rolling Eyes

I was kind of hoping that the leaflets would prick someone's conscience and they'd just let him go, but that clearly hasn't happended. Looks like I'll have to mount another poster campaign! Why do cats always go missing when it's bloody freezing out? It seemed like, the exact day I decided to re-leaflet the village, the weather decided to bite! Think I'll have to buy a pair of thermal undies! Laughing
